Mission and Objectives

The Department of Mechanical Engineering belongs to the School of Mechanical Engineering of the University of West Attica. Its mission is to promote the development and the transfer of knowledge in the technological field of Engineering, through teaching and applied research. In order to acquire the necessary knowledge, the Department develops an appropriate theoretical study background with a high level of laboratory and practical training, as well as the organization of infrastructure for applied technological research.

Through theoretical and applied scientific training, the graduates of the Department are provided with the necessary knowledge and skills, in order to meet the particularly increased demands of the labor market in the best possible way.
Currently, the Department has a student population of approximately 3,500 and employs 21 faculty members.
The graduates of the Department can be occupied as professional Mechanical Engineers in a wide range of professional fields, such as:

  • Construction of public and private technical projects
  • Conduction of technical studies regarding mechanical, energy and environmental systems
  • Design, installation, operation and maintenance of production systems
  • Organization and administration of industrial enterprises and projects
  • Occupational health/safety and installation safety
  • Quality control and assurance of products and services

 

With the full implementation of the new 5-year Curriculum, the continuous efforts to upgrade the Department’s studies and research/development activities and the necessary support from the State, the Department of Mechanical Engineering seeks to meet the needs of the modern Greek society, and strongly claims the position it deserves within the higher education system in Greece.
